So now mom doesn't have an excuse to not update periodically! Weebly allows phone entries. So, mom uploaded a pic of Brady hugging me! Awww!
I've been home for just over two weeks now, and mom and dad haven't broken me yet! I guess I will stick with them. My first weekend home I got to meet my Great-Gram (mom's Nana). She's wonderful, and couldn't get enough of me. This is the two of us together below. My big brother is super, too! He likes to help burp me, feed me, put blankets on me (over my face sometimes), and gives me lots and lots of kisses. Mom took a picture of Brady giving me his first kiss. Other than meeting some family and friends, I tend to eat, sleep and poop. I really like eating every 2.5 hours. I don't think mom and dad like that too much. They keep telling me I should sleep for at least 4 hours! And to make matters worse, I hate being swaddled, but LOVE being held all the time and often cry to get my way when I am put down. I already have them wrapped around my little finger!!
Mom has added more pictures to the Pictures page of my hospital stay. I have to say, being home is so much more fun!! Mommy got the green light to take me home on an increased calorie diet! YAHOO!! But, I do have to stick around for some quick routine procedure. Hope it can be done today so I don't have to come back to this place - unless I am just visiting!!
But, until I get to go home, at least I get to hang out with mom in her room. I'll probably just fall asleep in there anyways! Well, I like to give mom and dad a run for their money! I pulled a 76! The Dr is still hesitant to release me to the wild, and that's fine. Since I am still apparently all over the place with my numbers, I would feel more comfortable spending more time with the nurses. There are rumors of an early evening discharge... but we will see!
As a reward for my 76, the Nurse delivered me directly to Mommy's room! I got to spend a whole lotta time there with her, and Daddy showed up, too! FUN TIMES!! During the overnight, I let my numbers drop drastically from my 70's to 40's - even before my extra calorie wean. But, fortunately, the IV is still out. The nurses believe that I may just need a little additional time to really regulate sugar levels on my own. So, once I wake up (you really didn't think I was typing, did you?) the nurse will poke my heel again and see how I am doing. If it is below 50 still, chances are the IV will go back in, and mommy and I get to spend another night at Resort de Lowell General.
So, mom woke up to good news this morning! I had great numbers overnight, and at 7:30am I was weaned to 2ml of sugar. We hung out for a while, and fell asleep shortly after breakfast.
At my 10:30am feeding I made sure to eat real well so I could have a good number at the 1:30pm test. At 1:30, dad surprised me! That was exciting! I pulled a 71, so they dropped me to 1ml of sugar. YIPPEE!! Mom, Grandma and Grandpa showed up for my 7:30pm test, and they were greeted with a huge thumbs up from the nurse. Since I had woken up a little early, the nurse began taking my vitals, and poked my heel for the blood test. I passed with a 76 and she removed the IV line (I still have the pic in my arm as a precaution). Mom picked me up and did a little dance since she could maneuver me around with out the IV cart. That was super fun! So, as of right now, the plan is to see how I maintain my levels with out the IV. There have been discussions about weaning down my calories, but not sure on the timing of that. We'll know more tomorrow!!! Well, it's April Fools Day! But, I thought it would be cruel to give everyone a bad number, so I cooperated! Mom came in at 7:15am on the dot, and was told that I pulled 80s all night, and was weaned again at 7:30am. The Dr was already in, and told mommy that since my numbers were really good, the 12 hour wean will become a 6 hour wean. YAY!!!
I cooperated all day! Late in the afternoon, daddy came over to visit. We went into the small family room and watched the Red Sox together for a little while. What a cool sport! I can't wait to play when I get older! So, I was weaned again through the day. Mom last saw me at 7:30pm, and my current number was 5. When mommy comes in at 7:30am tomorrow, I hope to show her a 3. Wish me luck! Well, it's Easter, and mommy and daddy got a whole lotta good news...
So, the Dr told mom and dad that I will wean 1ml of dextrose every 12 hours. Seems very conservative, but I didn't cooperate earlier in my life, so I can't blame them. So, I did my best, and at the first 12 hour mark, I passed, and weaned down! This is just the beginning! |
